Wake Unto Me; Lisa Cach

ARC
Reading level: Young Adult
Publisher: Speak; Original edition (March 31, 2011)

Synopsis

A haunted castle, a handsome young man dead for four hundred years, one heck of a scary portrait of a witch, and a treasure hunt -- not to mention a princess for a roommate! -- all await 15 year old American girl Caitlyn Monahan when she earns a scholarship to a French boarding school.

There are secrets behind the stone walls of Chateau de la Fortune, buried for centuries along with the mystery of who killed Raphael, the charming ghost who visits Caitlyn at night. But as Caitlyn unearths the history of the castle, nothing scares her as badly as the secret she learns about herself, and the reason she was chosen to come to the Fortune School.

And nothing breaks her heart as badly as falling in love with a dead guy.

My Review

If I were Caitlyn I woulndn't want to wake up either after meeting Raphael. Hands down, this guy is awesome.  Though she wasn't technically sleeping or time traveling.  Weird, huh? I loved the idea of soul mates but crossed in the wrong era. It's awesome to see how the two connect and blend. I also liked that that wasn't the only issue in the book, it was so much more.

I enjoyed the historical aspect of it and loved that it took place in France.  It depicted such beautiful scenery. I even enjoyed the side kick characters the helped the transitions run smoothly. Not much that hasn't been done before but they had their own usefulness and twists.  The end did leave you wanting more, so the small lag at the beginning had no weight at the end. All in all it ended up being a great read. I can see myself enjoying another read by Lisa Cach.

I loved the deliciousness of a crisp ghost love story and a thrilling artful tale blending love, mystery and history.

I'm a sucker for a good ghost story. Throw in some romance, and it reminds me of Demi and Patrick! I'll be checking this one out!
