The Lipstick Laws; Amy Holder

The Lipstick Laws by Amy Holder

Reading level: Young Adult
Paperback: 240 pages
Publisher: Graphia (April 4, 2011)

Synopsis

At Penford High School, Britney Taylor is queen bee. She dates whomever she likes, rules over her inner circle of friends like Genghis Khan, and can ruin anyone's life as easily as snapping her perfectly manicured fingers. Just ask the unfortunate few who have crossed her.

For April Bowers, Britney is also the answer to her prayers. With zero friends and nothing close to a boyfriend, April is so unpopular, kids don't know she exists. That is, until Britney notices her. One lunch spent at Britney's table, and April is basking in the glow of popularity.

But Britney's friendship comes with a price tag.

How much is April willing to pay?

My Review
Britney and April are now rivals. April who was once on the fast track to popularity is now shunned. Some of the antics were quite funny. I wonder home many times some of these types of events have actually happened.  I'm actually thrilled that these rival events actually seemed more realistic.  I noticed with these types of books that stuff seems to happen that would land girls in jail. So I was relieved that some of the girls grew a conscious.  I didn't think this is the most original book but it sure was entertaining and April was so relatable. At the end I really felt the girl power and the ability to like yourself.

All the characters had their own sort of fabulousness about them. I kinda wish McGerk's character ended better. I would like another story for his life. I can see him becoming a hottie.  I would recommend this to anyone who loves a fast paced read with some fun and excitement mixed in. The Lipstick Laws had a even flow of words never rushed or over done. I think all girls are Lipstick Law Breakers!

I didn't think this book would be as good, so I'm surprised. Hm.. will have to think about this one now!

I love seeing how crazy a rivalry can get especially if its the fun and humorous kind.

Not a fan of bitchy and mean teens any more so I will pass on this one.
