Joy Preble

So what’s there to know about me? I’m the kid who loved reading and science and history, and even math, although I was always dreadful at it. I didn’t so much read as I consumed books. Vats of them. Buckets full. Baskets. Well, you get the idea. Although at first I was surprised that my very first published novel has turned out to be a young adult contemporary fantasy with a kick- ass teen girl heroine, a mysterious handsome guy and a famous Russian witch, all inspired by Anastasia Romanov’s disappearance, I suppose I really shouldn’t be surprised at all. After all, I read Madeline L’Engel’s A Wrinkle in Time a zillion times. I wallowed in Edgar Eager’s Half Magic. I stormed my way through all the Nancy Drew’s and the first really big (ooh, an adult size book) history account I sucked in was Nicholas and Alexandra. I liked my tv heroines strong and feisty, and my maternal grandmother really was a crazy Russian lady who had been one of – wait for it… here it comes… twenty children. Yes, that’s twenty as in 20. I doubt highly if anyone noticed when she ran off to America at sixteen with her tales of the Bolsheviks, married badly, raised four children on her own and was the least grandmotherly of grandmothers a girl could ever hope for. Seriously – no warm and fuzzies there, only admonitions to eat my vegetables so I would be strong enough to survive any impending pogroms. So why I was surprised that I wasn’t writing classic romance is only a product of my own personal idiocy.

Lynn's site is just so cute all over! I love the cartoony worm and fanged girl. :)

I loved Joy's bio, it made me smile. I consume vats of books, too!

Caren's Advice is great! I am an aspiring writer and I tried to publish a short story a coupl of months ago. It wasn't accepted, but I am still glad I wrote it down. :) (I am now working on another short story that I hope will be published.)

Thank you all for the great giveaway!

Lynn - Her site has the cutest layout! I love the blurb for "Little Vampire Women", too.

Joy - I love that her bio is self-written, and not just the general description that can be found in the back of an author's books.

Caren - I love her "Other Writings" section, as well as her awesome advice on how to get published.

Lynn - OMG, her webpage is like cute overload. I LOVE IT! I think it's great that her book Fashionistas is being developed as a feature film too!

Joy - I think I have a lot in common with her! I loved reading and science in school (although history not so much). I also adore breakfast foods and just recently started listening to Country music. It's cool we have some things in common!

Caren - I'm loving the cover of Carrie Pilby that's on the front page of her website...too cute! I also like that she gives advice to aspiring authors

Lynn Messina: Her website is adorable!! It's so...so cute! I love it! It's simple, it's cute, it's easy to browse through = the perfect website.

Joy Preble: I really like her book cover...anyways, her website is very simple, and the colors give it a nice touch! Although, I find it a little boring. It looks like one of those educational websites that are rarely updated. It's a nice site though..

Caren Lissner: Why is it the book covers look so amazing? It's a simple website, organized with tabs on the side, and that's convenient. Though, I think it's a little classic. There's nothing that makes you want to go, "OH! What's this?" I like it anyways.

I must say, THANK YOU for directing us to the sites of these authors. In all honesty, I mean, I began checking them out to gain entries, but now I am really enjoying visiting and getting to know their websites, their thought-processes, and/or fun facts about them! This is a brilliant idea! :D

+1 Lynn Messina - The animation on her site is just too adorable for words! I'm really looking forward to reading "Little Vampire Women", and got to read an excerpt from the book which is SUPER COOL! :)

+1 Joy Preble - I loved reading her bio, and coming to find out how she likes breakfast foods, grew up in Chicago but now lives in Texas, hated country music (*gasp*) until her last WIP and now absolutely loves it! :)

+1 Caren Lissner - Her site was cute, but what I REALLLLLY enjoyed reading for her article titled "My advice (for what it's worth) on how to get published" - which really helps aspiring authors like me! :D

Lynn: OMG, that is too dang cute!! I LOVE that entry page! And the dialogue bubbles on all of the link pages are too cute. This is my favorite site yet!! :-)

Joy: Not fond of the colors or the squares, but I love her book covers and the feather is a fun touch.

Carrie: I like the collage look and the city scape header. I think it's cool that she has an "advice for writers" link.

Thanks, Liz.

Lynn Messina: Maybe I should have found something more substantial but I just adore her site design, especially the first page!

Joy Preble: I love that she mentions the food she loves in her bio --or maybe I should just go eat breakfast?

Caren Lissner: I own Starting From Square Two --- which I apparently did not know was by the same author as Carrie Pilby...I should read my copy this summer :)

OMG, Lynn's site is so cute and I love her vamp girl. I especially like how you can hold the cursor over a choice and it shows you the page. Easier than having to click and then click back

I like how Joy's is easy to navigate and I love her book cover, so beautiful

Lynn's site - Her site is overloaded of cuteness! I love everything about it! It's very refreshing!

Joy's site - I enjoyed reading her bio. I love Math, but i don't like History that much. Eek. "I love peanut butter and sushi (although not together)" That line made me laugh. It would probably taste weird to put them together. Anyway, I love peanut butter and Sushi. I didn't like country music that much too before. I just listen to few country singers like Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts, Shania Twain, etc. But now, i listen to country songs EVERYDAY!

Caren's site - Her site is well-organized. I loved the collage. I visited her blog too. I liked it. It made me hungry though. The Donuts (on the 2nd page) made me crave for it. Yay!
