The Do You Know What's Going On?

What makes a great blog?  I personally have no clue, I am still working on that. I do know that Cleverly Inked needs some work.  I am still playing catch up with everything.

I have so many thing that need to be done. I have something like 30 reviews that need attention. So here is were you come in I need your opinion.  After reading a comment from Juju @ Tales of Whimsy about how she enjoyed my shorter reviews I have written since being back (not done on purpose) I noticed I must be rushing. So here is my idea (thanks Juju)

I plan on writing "Get to the point already reviews".  They will consist of who, what, where, when and why about the book. Simple answers. I will post 2 or 3 reviews at a time. I can paddle through my reviews.  I wouldn't post reviews of books from tours or books that were asked for me to review.

I have been working my hardest while still being a wife, mother and having time for friends and a life outside of reading.  I am on the right track and I swear I am almost done getting caught up except the reviews. YIKES! So..... I want to from being swallowed by books to serenity in books.

What do you think about "Get to the point already reviews"?

Honestly I don't like long reviews, I think they tend to give away more about the book than needs to be done. I usually don't read long ones I just look through them, but short reviews I love reading. So I like your new idea!

I usually skip over long reviews...I love short ones! I think more people would read shorter reviews. I try myself to write shorter reviews and sometimes that's just because I'm not sure what to say, lol.

I like longer in depth reviews normal, especially for books that have had SO much hype about them. But I think that shorter reviews are good for books that don't need a lot of explaining, that are just good books to read or bad books. I think that if it helps you out, that you should do it. Regardless of what i say. :)

I love shorter reviews and it really makes you feel accomplished if you have that many reviews hanging over your head. I usually group them by genre or by MG or YA when I write mine. I definitely think you should go for it. See if you like the style and then keep doing it on and off. Make it a weekly feature or biweekly feature. :)

Hey, I really like your idea--esp. including a few "mini-views" in one. Your blog is a regular read and stop for me--this will add one more reason to read and stop. I like longer reviews, too, but also like really getting peoples quick thoughts.

I'm thinking of doing something similar, although the shorties with be more like booktalks I would do with teens and kids.

My gosh, that's enough from me! Deblah blah!

Do it! :) I totally relate to the time crunch, and I've been trying to jump back into blogging this year as well! I've been doing 2 "regular" reviews and mini-reviews of 3 books every week this year - and I will have to say that I love the mini-reviews! They seem to work better for my schedule, and people seem to like short and simple.

Good luck!

I do like short reviews :) Sometimes you don't need more than to tell it with a few words..and yes great way to get a lot in one post

Sounds like a great idea, glad I...I mean Juju (hehe) thought of it. You definitely need to get back to the serenity of reading as you said...it's meant to be a joy not a chore. ^_^

You know my thoughts:
Do it baby do it!
;)
A. They are more fun to write.
B. I find I enjoy reading shorter ones better.
C. They leave more to the imagination and are easier to keep spoiler free.
D. I love it. Who, What, When, and Why sounds brilliant.
E. Great way to catch up!

You go girl!
*high five*
PS thanks for the shout out :D
I <3 shorties.

I actually prefer shorter reviews. they are easier to read, and all I really want to know is whether or not you liked it enough to recommend I read it. :-)

P.S. I don't think I understand the Scavenger Hunt. Are you leaving clues? Am I missing them? Yes, I am a natural blond! :-)

I love reviews either long or short. The shorter ones would mean I spend more time browsing through the rest of your blog.

Get to the point already works for me, have to try some more of those myself....

I love that sentence that you went from "being swallowed by books to serenity in books", the rest of us can take heart from that!

Great idea! I prefer shorter reviews and I'm trying to shorten mine as a 2011 goal - so we can support each other. I was thinking of doing a something similar as far as organization with a set up something like - Writing, Plot, Characters, Romance, Ending etc. Seriously, if you want support, I'm there for you!!

Love it.

My goal is to write "Short & Sweet" reviews!!=) I rarely manage my goal but I want to aim for it. In fact, Felicia @ Geeky Blogger's Book Blog has a perfect set up that I've been wanting to ask her if I can bite and implement it on my blog as well.

The review above the post, Freefall, has a sweet & sweet length!!!

I hate long reviews...I never read them...I check out the books and zip off to goodreads or amazon to check out the summary...so I love this idea...
