Weekend Question?

Weekend Question is a fun way to get to know my followers. I enjoy knowing little tidbits of your lives.

Weekend Question:

Do you lend out your books?

I have to a select few...err ok only one person. I don't really trust others with my books. Plus I find it disgusting that they might bring it into the restroom.  I do not lend out my ARC's. I feel I recieve ARC's to promote a book not to just willie nillie hand them to everyone I know.  It's an interesting thing. I think it would be interesting to see if you are OCD with your books.

There's only one person I ever lend books to. I know she'll take care of them and give them back in good condition. Most of the books that I used to loan out are all ripped up, and while I'm glad they were put to good use, they look so sad sitting on my shelf.

I don't lend ARCs either. I'd rather have a giveaway to other people who will promote the book.

Sometimes I lend out books; it mostly depends on the book and the person. But normally, I like keeping all my books on hand, so I know I have them :)

Not really. Most of my friends and family aren't big readers like me. I don't keep my books once I am done with them though (except for signed ones). I usually trade them in at the used book store or just give them to one of my blogger friends.....

Yes, but it's usually only to my hubby's friend who reads mainly adult books and he's gone almost all the way through what I have. :) I also lend books to my mother who is a children's librarian and my sister-in-law who loves reading (she's 16 so she loves all the YA books I lend her).

Nope! But that is because the people I know don't really like YA and when they do they usually read it in Dutch. :) But if one of my best friends really, really wanted to read one of my books, I probably say yes, but they have to be very careful!

I am quite happy to lend out my books... to 3 people. My bf and two of my close friends. I know that I will get them back in a good condition (and at all!). I have had some bad books-mysteriously-disappearing things happen when lending them out and I am much too protective.

I only lend my books out to two people....and I know they will take care of them because my books (the ones I love) are like small pets to me...(:D)

I pass some arcs to readers on the blog and donate a lot of my books that dont get a spot on the shelf to my local womens shelter or library.

Only to very, very close friends I know will take care of them. My books are precious to me!

Euwwwww, I sure hope no one read my books on the toilet.

I borrow them to a friend of mine, and she lends books to me. I also borrow some to another friend, but she reads so very slow, like a few a year so no biggie there :)

I'll only lend my books out to my sisters and best friends, because I know that they'll take care of them and actually remember to return them.
I don't lend ARCs, but if I've read or have gotten a finaihed copy of it I usually try to trade it or do a giveaway. ^_^

The only people I lend books to are my mum and dad, I know they'll look after them because they're the ones who taught me to have respect for other people's stuff.

I also once lent a cookbook to my boyfriend's mum, thankfully she looked after it and returned it reasonably quickly. Might have caused awkwardness otherwise!

Other than that I think I'd be a bit wary of lending books, I'd be worrying all the time. My books are my babies lol

I have, but I usually make sure it is a book I am willing to lose or get destroyed. For some reason most people don't know the concept of taking care of others property. Of course this is all dependent on WHO is asking. There are a few I'd trust any book to... funny it's those people who rarely ask. They usually just buy their own copy. :)

Myself and 3 others lend out books to one another. I trust them all with the books and I know if one of us was to ruin a book we would buy that person a new one.

I will lend out my books to anyone I'm friends with, anyone I see on a regular basis. I love to lend out books. I love to borrow books. I love to share the stories, have the conversations. Maybe it's something my bookclub won't read, but a single friend will. Occasionally I don't get a book back. Okay, twice. I remember each time distinctly, but that happens. They are replaceable.

Books are not something I'm terribly good at sharing. The only person that I ever share my books with is my sister when she comes down to visit. And at that I know it will never be returned. :(

I hate lending books. I tend to lean towards no. Good question!

I never lend out my books because the two times I have one took forever to return it and the other broke the spine of the book.

As for ARC's I share them with my fellow book blogger group.

Lend no, give away to someone else once I have read a book that I feel deserves being shared yes!

OCD about my books not really, picky yes!

I mean I have cats who love to sleep in my book shelves so cannot be too OCD when that is normal in my house!

Yes, I do. I'm way too trusting, and I lose some, but I can't help it. I get so excited when someone (usually one of my students) wants to read a book. I try to buy books for my classroom at the thrift store so that it doesn't hurt as much when they disappear. :-)

Yeah, I do. I'm pretty much the 'library' of all of my friends. My sister's friend comes to my house and grabs a stack of books at a time. As she finishes them she brings them back, lol. I also have a lady from work that borrows, and now she's asked if I can lend a few so her parents can read too. Not many people like going to the library anymore I've noticed, they just come to me. Plus our library isn't very updated, and I normally have a lot of the newer books out there.

I do have a hard time lending books...I love them too much...that is why I love my Kindle so much...you can tell everyone about amazing books but they have to get their own...I am a bit selfish with my books but I am trying so hard not to be.

There are a handful of people I lend my books to--and sometimes I do give them a good wipe with a "Wet one" when I get it back. . . everyone takes books into the bathroom. It happens. LOL.

I have trust issues too when I lend out books to friends and family. I take very good care of my books and am always afraid that others will damage the book.

Aleksandra said...

I rarely lend my books (although I lend a lot of books from people, but I take care of them, sometimes even more than I take care of mine, especially if they're new) and I don't lend books to everyone, only to a few people, although there are some books that I won't lend to anyone :) So yeah, I guess I am OCD with my books :)

GMR said...

Am I OCD with my books? Pfft! *ahem* Okay so I am....I'm not usually a lender but I will talk your ear off about what I've read and be certain I do all I can to spread the word. ^_^

I only led books out too two of my friends, who are completely book obsessed like me.
We all always lend each other books with the promise if we wreack them will be buy them a new one
