Weekend Question

Weekend Question is a fun way to get to know my followers. I am also excited to hear your answers!

Weekend Questions:

Do you hide any books from people?  What books are you embarrassed by owning?

Well, being that I'm 28 I do find it hard sometimes buying 10 YA books at my local book store. I always feel I am getting the eye. LOL  As for specific books....ANYTHING with a raunchy cover. OOH gosh I avoid those until the store doesn't have a line :). They also are on the very top of my shelf in the back. I don't need my son seeing almost naked people.

Happy Weekend!

The occasional raunchy thriller or cheesy romance YA that I buy to keep up with what's in the market. But these days, I simply buy those types of books on kindle--cheaper and I never have a telltale book around. Read a few chapters then banish the thing from my kindle. I only buy books I really want to keep or give as presents.

Haha! I feel the same way. I really want to read the J.R Ward books, but I'm too embarrassed to own them because of how "sexual" the covers are.

LOL I'm not embarrassed by any books- but i have old comics and old books I hide from people, so they don't handle them, so my kids don't ruin them type stuff.

I definitely can relate to being in your 20s and buying tons of YA books. Sometimes I just forget I'm not a teenager anymore!...not that that would stop me from buying YA novels.

Nope. And I don't have any books that embarress me.

I actually get questioned a lot on my reading choices by fam/friends, they always think I'm reading the weirdest books when really they are just cute teen books and nothing to worry about.

I do tend to stray away from anything that has even the slightest raunchy cover or looks too immature for me even if I'm interested in the summary.

I don't really own any books that I hide from people, but I am nervous browsing the YA shelves at Borders and the Library... always feel like I'm being judged. hahaha.
One time, when I still worked in an office, I was eating lunch in the cafe, and I was reading some YA book--I forget which book it is-- and the manager of our entire branch asked me what I was reading.... so I bumbled around a bit saying that I write YA so I try to keep up with what's going on in the market. hahaha. Then of course I got that horrid question "Have you published anything??" :(

I don't hide the books I have but I do get very protective whenever someone wants to borrow books from me. I want them to treat my books kindly and not damage any part of it.

I've never felt that I had to hide my YA books--as a YA librarian I can easily say I need to read them so I know what to promote to the teens. I don't even feel bad about shopping in the YA section--even when I do get the eye--if they asked I would say I am a librarian who loves YA books. The books I do feel like hiding are my romance novels. I haven't bought any recently--I have been pretty much all YA lately, but I have a collection of romance novels that hide on my very bottom shelf, hoping no one will find them. :)
