Synopsis
Calla Tor has always known her destiny: After graduating from the Mountain School, she'll be the mate of sexy alpha wolf Ren Laroche and fight with him, side by side, ruling their pack and guarding sacred sites for the Keepers. But when she violates her masters' laws by saving a beautiful human boy out for a hike, Calla begins to question her fate, her existence, and the very essence of the world she has known. By following her heart, she might lose everything— including her own life. Is forbidden love worth the ultimate sacrifice?
My Review
Nightshade was surprising, After all it's not common that a Female is an alpha. The journey the book took you was steady but it picked up to a quicker pace at the end. I think if the ending wasn't as good as it is I doubt I would write such high praise for Nightshade. It's not that it wasn't a fabulous read I just enjoy a faster paced book. There wasn't a single character in the book that didn't have well rounded edges. In fact I felt I knew all the characters personally. Calla the main character was so back and forth and at times you wanted to say enough is enough, but you also understood why she was like that. She had to be strong she had her future planned for her. She was not entitled to be something other then what laid out for her. I would also have a hard time choosing between the guys, both were well pretty darn perfect. I personally like cliff hangers and this one left us on a juicy one!
I can see anyone who loves YA type books enjoying this. There is something for everyone, love, fighting, mystery.
There is also a few more in the series here are the next....

BLOODROSE (Spring 2012, Philomel, TBA) Nightshade Book 3

Haven't picked this one up yet, but I might now. I love me some well rounded characters. ;)
I really enjoyed this book but as I read your review it does remind me how the novel, overall, could have been more face paced.
I am caught between the two boys but I must admit I am leaning towards Ren although I think the story is leaning towards Shay!
I can't wait to read this one! It should be my turn at the library soon!
I have this one and keep meaning to read it, but haven't gotten to it yet. Pacing can mean everything to me, so I hope I can stick it out!
