Synopsis:
Fifteen-year-old Samson Ashburner has always felt like an outsider—even before the accident that left his face scarred and his confidence shattered. With the jeers and taunts of the local children ringing in his ears, Samson’s only refuge is his ancestor's hut deep in the nearby woods. It is here that he encounters Angel Obscura, a gypsy girl who teachers Samson that not everybody takes him at face value. But Angel is not all that she seems, and Samson is soon drawn into a web of deceit and shady dealings with an explosive outcome.
My Review
Unfortunately, I was unable to finish this book. I am a little disappointed with myself.
Here is the first line in the book. "I came round to the noise of a grim reaping machine."
Sounds good doesn't it?
It was going great for me till I hit pg114, But I forged on and when I couldn't do it any further I gave up. I just couldn't stay tuned into the book. It might have been the wording. It's sets in Cumbrian which the way they communicate is much different as to how I communicate. I couldn't grasp the way they interacted.
So My loss is your gain. One person will have a chance to finish this for me.

That cover is a little scary, isn't it? I don't know, Liz. You are usually dead-on when it comes to books. If you couldn't finish it, I probably wouldn't either. :-)
