Synopsis
Her whole life, Alexia Garcia has been told that she looks just like pop star Kari Kingsley, and one day when Alexia's photo filters through the Internet, she's offered a job to be Kari's double. This would seem like the opportunity of a lifetime, but Alexia's mother has always warned her against celebrities.
Rebelliously, Alexia flies off to L.A. and gets immersed in a celebrity life. Not only does she have to get used to getting anything she wants, she romances the hottest lead singer on the charts, and finds out that her own father is a singing legend. Through it all, Alexia must stay true to herself, which is hard to do when you are pretending to be somebody else!
My Review
I have read quite a few good books lately. I figured maybe this one might let me down. I just didn't think I would enjoy this but I gave it a shot. I am thrilled to say that I enjoyed this. Alexia's character made me wince, laugh and hold my breath. I could only imagine stepping into the spot light to pretend you are someone else. The synopsis doesn't do this justice. It's not so much about staying true to yourself it's about finding out who you really are. (and who you are not) Janette's writing was smooth as sailing. Grants character was a little mild for my taste but he played well into the plot. You should pick this one up. A wonderful summer read.

Sounds like a great story. Sweet and exciting, a fairytale to make us older women smile.

I am a big fan of Janette Rallison's work! Well, I've actually only read her book How to Take the Ex Out of Ex-Boyfriend, but I was hooked from the start! This book reminds me of Airhead by Meg Cabot, which I loved, so I'll probably read this.
i had never heard of this author before, but the book sounds like quite fun ;) i'm happy you enjoyed it..

I like the premise a lot - and the idea of learning who you truly are by pretending to be someone you are not. Very fitting topic in today's society of reality shows and celebrities in the spotlight, it would easy to get lost.
Thanks for the review.

This is the first review I've read for the book and I'm glad to see it's a good one! I must say that I have the same reservationst hat you did, that it just won't be able to hold it's own against the many fantastic books I've been reading lately. I guess I'll have to wait and see!
