About Jenna

Jenna Black is your typical writer. Which means she's an "experience junkie." She got her BA in physical anthropology and French from Duke University.

Once upon a time, she dreamed she would be the next Jane Goodall, camping in the bush making fabulous discoveries about primate behavior. Then, during her senior year at Duke, she did some actual research in the field and made this shocking discovery: primates spend something like 80% of their time doing such exciting things as sleeping and eating.

Concluding that this discovery was her life's work in the field of primatology, she then moved on to such varied pastimes as grooming dogs and writing technical documentation. Among her other experiences . . .
Ballroom dancing.
Traveling all seven continents. Yes, even Antarctica.
Becoming a Life Master in Bridge.
Singing in a barbershop chorus.

Read the true story of Jenna's first trip out of the country by herself at the age of 16: Jenna's Zaire Adventure. And remember, insanity is a good thing for a writer.

I like how easy Jennifer's site is to navigate. Her kitty is cute too. Jenna's site is very gritty and reflects the dark genres she writes in. And I'm excited to see Jessica be giving away a Flip Video Recorder. I would so love one of those!

I enjoyed reading the first chapter and prologue of Glimmerglass--it sounds good!

I think it is really cool that Deepak Chopra is in Jessica Brody's book trailer!

I'm not digging Jennifer's colors, unlike every other person on here it seems. Red and black with a grid pattern background? Sorry, I just think she could do better :( Shame though, because I'd have hoped that her site could reflect the design of her book.

Jenna. Wow. That is a layout that I like! Her Fun Stuff section is actually fun! I really liked the Alaska Skeleton Puzzle!

Jessica's site made me think of my boyfriend. That's kinda sad, what with all the pink in there. But it's not the pink that did it, it's the notepaper background (He's a sports journalist XP Kill me now). I like that she includes a 'foreign editions' section. I'm always curious about what the cover looks like in other countries and to which countries the book has been published in.

I'm dying to read Angel Star. I've heard it's really good.

Jennifers site colours could be better but the layout is still really well set up, and her novel sounds great!

Jenna has a realllly nice site, the header is amazing and is very cool, and i love the connections of genre to book cover.

Jessica has a nice simplistic blog, and i love how its as if a piece of paper has been torn out of a book, im impressed with the foreign editions sections!

I like that Jennifer Murgia included fan art and groups on her site.
Jenna Black has some great extras, and Jessica Brody has a funny anecdote about her self-"publishing." Neat!

I love Jessica Brody's book trailer the for The Karma Club and the simple clear design of the site was appealing.

Although I found Jenna's site a bit dark it was easy to navigate and I loved reading about her 'Zaire Adventure' - it is nice to have a more personal story included.

I loved Jennifer's dark red and black colour scheme, a personal favourite. I also loved the links to various social working networks dotted around the site. It is great to be able to find her in other places.

What do I love about Jennifer? HER BOOK!! I so, so, so can't wait to read Angel Star. But okay. You want to know what I love about her site. Well *scuttles over there* - the quotes on the main page because it makes me even more excited for the book. And the "Fun Stuff" page because trailers are always awesome and I found links to blogs that will be featuring Angel Star soon!

On Jenna's? Oooh! The "Young Adult" page! Because there's an excerpt of Glimmerglass and I haven't yet read it. And I want to. So I must go read that!

And on Jessica's? Oh, you mean besides the fact that she clearly has a wonderfully genius last name? The "For Writers" page because she gives a lot of great advice that's really helpful!

Here are my thoughts on the websites:

I noticed that all of the websites had bold colors, which I liked, because it fit the moods of their respective novels.

1. Jennifer Murgia's website had a kind of dark and brooding aspect to it that worked nicely with her novel Angel Star.

2. Jenna Black's website was creative in a way that was rather mysterious. Loved it!

3. Jessica Brody's was a colorful hot pink that I thought worked well with her new novel, The Karma Club.

I know that I have similar thoughts on these web sites but I found that the drama of their home pages were somehow connected like that!
