Birthday Divider

Let's Begin, Shall We?

As I was saying it's The Owl Keeper Birthday!

Reading level: Ages 9-12
Hardcover: 320 pages
Publisher: Delacorte Books for Young Readers (April 13, 2010)

Synopsis

Maxwell Unger has always loved the night. He used to do brave things like go tramping through the forest with his gran after dark. He loved the stories she told him about the world before the Destruction -- about nature, and books, and the silver owls. His favorite story, though, was about the Owl Keeper. According to Max's gran, in times of darkness the Owl Keeper would appear to unite owls and sages against the powers of the dark. Gran is gone now, and so are her stories of how the world used to be. Max is no longer brave. The forest is dangerous, the books Gran saved have been destroyed, and the silver owls are extinct. At least, that's what the High Echelon says. But Max knows better. Max Unger has a secret. And when a mysterious girl comes to town, he just might have to start being brave again. The time of the Owl Keeper, Gran would say, is coming soon.

My Review

Adventure of all adventures. What a fun suspenseful, can't wait to turn the page book. I couldn't help but feel like big brother is watching you. I am in Love with Christine's writing style. It was just right in every way. Max was a character who shined, So brave and courageous. The way Rose and Max interacted was perfect. His life wasn't what he thought it to be. All of his questions were deflected by family and family friends. Who was he to trust? Christine really has a way of making characters come to life right off the pages. I think anyone of any age would enjoy this especially those who enjoyed The Giver and who can handle a world of adventure!

Sounds so amazing right?? Take some time to visit Christine Brodien-Jones for their Birthday!
(I did not make this cake. I take no credit for it. If I knew who made it I would link it to them.)

So I can't wait any longer to tell you about how I am so Lucky to be given the chance to do this giveaway! Since I decided to celebrate my Birthday with a Phenomenon of a Giveaway!

I want to give all of the Authors who are participating a HUGE THANK YOU! Also a big thank you to the publicists who went out of their way to help. All of these authors have been more then generous and I can not thank you enough!

Holy Moley!!! This is INSANE! HUGE Happy Birthday, and thanks for the fantastic contest. You have a lot of books I've been wanting to read (nearly all of them) and a lot I have and love (nearly all the rest ;p)
I looove the owl cake, that was too cute. And great review, too! I've been curious about The Owl Keeper, but couldn't decide whether I wanted to read it. I am a huge fan of dystopias (as I think anyone whose ever stopped by Book Rat knows...) and I loved the Giver, but I have so many "to read" books, I wasn't hesitant to add another. But if I'm honest, yeah, I want to read this. =D

Happy birthday! Your contest is ridiculous. Possibly the contest to end all contests. I have to confess that The Owl Keeper is on my TBR list, but my TBR list is more than 1000 books long! Any time I read an actual review, though, that pushes a book way up (or way down) that list. (In this case, up!)

And very concise review of the book. I'm embarrased to say I've never read The Giver (I know, right? I've read some other Lois Lowry books though.), but The Owl Keeper sounds like a great story. I hate it too when my questions don't get answered, haha.

It seems to be a really interesting book, but, in fact, I'm trying to read more Chick lit books. But this book could enter in my wishlist... Who knows? (:
I enjoyed your review, and you are the first person that i see, that write almost like me. Is really impressive, because both of us try to tell, but at the same time, not to tell what happens in the story, so the followers and readers and bookaholics will be tempted to read the book, and that is the nice part, isn't it?
I loved your review, and keep going this way.
Kisses, Thayna.
PS: Sorry about my bad english :/

When I signed up using the entry page, I think I put my preferred name as LinzReads, but all of my comments have been made under the name Linz. Just a heads up! And great GREAT contest!

I LOVE your site. You have so much positive energy.

I placed your link on my Blogroll as I want other authors to find you.

The Owl Keeper sounds awesome. I love books for MG/YA that are well-written. In fact, I've just finished the first of a YA series that is ready for submissions. I would LOVE a review to post on my blog and elsewhere????

Hope I win the contest, I want The Owl Keeper. (The other stuff wouldn't be so bad, either. LOL)

I need to thank Skyler White for leading me over to this site. I wish I'd gotten here sooner so I could promote via my blog, but I've run out of time. I will add this to my post for today though:)

Happy Birthday!!
