Cassandra Clare; City Of Glass: The Mortal Instruments Series

  • Reading level: Young Adult
  • Hardcover: 560 pages
  • Publisher: Margaret K. McElderry (March 24, 2009)

To save her mother's life, Clary must travel to the City of Glass, the ancestral home of the Shadowhunters — never mind that entering the city without permission is against the Law, and breaking the Law could mean death. To make things worse, she learns that Jace does not want her there, and her best friend, Simon, has been thrown in prison by the Shadowhunters, who are deeply suspicious of a vampire who can withstand sunlight.
As Clary uncovers more about her family's past, she finds an ally in mysterious Shadowhunter Sebastian. With Valentine mustering the full force of his power to destroy all Shadowhunters forever, their only chance to defeat him is to fight alongside their eternal enemies. But can Downworlders and Shadowhunters put aside their hatred to work together? While Jace realizes exactly how much he's willing to risk for Clary, can she harness her newfound powers to help save the Glass City — whatever the cost?

My Review

Ahhh this was not long enough. Clary finds herself under the attention of another guy while in the Glass City. All the twists left for an amazing plot. This book in the series does answer the question that we have been waiting for, BUT I'm not telling. ;)  Can Clary save her mom, Simon and the glass city in time? Valentine is still up to his old ways. The only hope is to overcome their differences with Downworlders and Shadowhunters. Cassandra knows how to sure pack a punch with her writing. It never dulls and keeps you on edge waiting for the suspense to pass. I can not wait till the next in the series. You should get up right now and get the first of the series, you wont want to miss out.

I think I'm the only one in the whole wide world that didn't enjoy this series as much as I wanted to. Great review, though.

I've never really had much interest in these. I did enjoy the author's short story in Geektastic though.

I have been back and forth about reading this series, as I have read many mixed reviews. However, your review makes me want to pick it up! Thanks! :)
