I am so excited this is my first interview. It's short but I am ecstatic.
Thank you so much for your sweet, thoughtful email. I'm absolutely thrilled to know you enjoyed!
I'd be happy to provide answers to the below questions for your blog! And here they are:
How did you come up with the idea of Sea Change?
AF* I got the idea for SEA CHANGE one summer while I was riding a ferryboat to Governor's Island, this small island off the coast of The Little Mermaid" was my favorite , and I began to wonder--what if the genders were reversed? How did you come up with the characters names?
AF* Coming up with character names is one of my favorite parts of writing. Miranda is named after a character in Shakespeare's play THE TEMPEST--which is also where the phrase "sea change" originated! (that's why there's that quote at the start of the book). I wanted her name to be linked to the sea in this subtle way. (Like her brother's name, Wade). As for Leo, I was looking through different name websites, and I stumbled upon the name "Leomaris--King of the Sea" and I thought: PERFECT!
Do you plan on writing a sequel? If so when might it be released?
AF*I definitely have different ideas in mind for a sequel, but I am not working on one right now. I can't tell you how many people have been clamoring for a sequel, though, so I may need to get on that sometime!
